The Roller Skating program provides a unique opportunity for children to have fun, exercise, and socialize in a safe and relaxed setting. The program is held at 7th District right after school, making it possible for many children to participate.
The roller skating program meets after-school in the Gymnasium at 7th District Elementary School. The program is usually 6 weeks long, with two sessions: one session for grades 3 - 5, and a second session for grades K - 2. The program meets after school from 3:15 – 5:00 PM. Children may bring their own roller skates or in-line skates, but are not required to do so. Skates are available for children to borrow each week at no charge. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase.
Children of all skill levels are welcome to participate. This is not an instructional program and no lessons are offered. Middle school student volunteers are available to assist new skaters while they get the hang of it. Most children are able to skate independently after a week or two.
Parents/Guardians must sign up to volunteer one time during the program session. Adult help is needed prior to the start of and at the end of, each session to clean and organize skates and storage closet, purchase snacks. Help is needed each week to set-up snacks, monitor skaters, help children get their skates on, etc. Opportunities to help in other ways are also available for those parents/guardians not available after school. Please contact the Chairperson as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements.
Space is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration may close without notice once maximum capacity is reached.
