Seventh District Taekwon-Do

Last Updated 7/23/2024:
Seventh District Recreation Council Presents Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art emphasizing coordinated hand and foot movements and strong kicks. Taekwondo includes learning belt level forms and skills training, board breaks for each rank level, and limited-contact sparring. Taekwondo improves strength, flexibility, coordination, discipline and self-confidence. This program provides traditional martial arts training, self-defense strategies and situational awareness.  Taekwondo is suitable for adults and children and is a great program for groups, friends and family members to take together. Martial Arts training is a team sport where no one sits on the bench and there is no second string. Everyone participates fully. We encourage students to push themselves to reach their goals and show them how to support classmates to reach their goals.

The Seventh District Recreational Council's Taekwondo program has trained many students over the past 25 years, ranging in age from 8 to 60+, having promoted over 35 students to 1st degree Black Belt. Instruction is broken into 3-month semesters, with the program running year round. At the end of each semester, students are invited to test for advancement to the next belt level. Tests are administered in January, April, July, October and testing fees are additional.

Registration is required for each 3-month segment and the fees to participate are $15 per student, with discounts for family members. Our program encourages parents to consider joining Taekwondo with their children, as this is a sport where they can work together and learn together. Students must be aged 8 and above to participate, and all are welcome.

Costs: $15 per student, $28 for two family members and $40 for three family members
